11.04.13 - M.Arch alum Jakub Dzamba featured speaker at upcoming Future Food Salon II

Daniels alum and MArch graduate Jakub Dzamba will be the featured speaker at the upcoming event Future Food Salon II on Thursday, April 18 at 7 pm. He will expand on the ideas put forth in his MArch thesis "Third Millenium Farming. It's Time for Another Farming Revolution: Smaller, Cheaper, Sustainable".

Dzamba, who is currently pursuing his PhD in architecture at McGill University, is working on an approach to urban agriculture called Third Millennium Farming (3MF), that utilizes bio-wastes (such as grey water and black water) to grow micro-crops (such as algae and grass), which are then fed to micro-livestock (insects). The micro-livestock are humanely euthanized to create a new ingredient called insect-flour that is used by chefs in culinary experiments. Dzamba's work focuses on exploring how 3MF systems will change city and infrastructure design and make cities more sustainable.

Future Food Salon II which will feature improvised music by the So-called Quintent, canapés by local caterer Earth and City, cricket canapés by the award winning baker Cookie Martinez, cricket-farming demonstration units, and a number of door prizes.
