19.12.14 - Students Awards Luncheon recognizes both students and donors
A celebration to honour student accomplishments and to thank those who have contributed to student awards took place on November 26 at a luncheon at Hart House.
Master of Architecture, Master of Landscape Architecture, Master of Urban Design, and Master of Visual Studies students who received in-course awards and admissions awards were invited to meet the donors who have helped support their academic development — and the donors were able to meet the students who have benefited from their generosity.
Students Nicholas Gosselin (MLA 2) and Brie Smith (MArch 4) spoke on behalf of the student body about the value of their programs and the financial support that they have received, which has helped them pursue their academic goals.
Dean Richard Sommer also addressed those assembled.
“Opportunities like this luncheon are meaningful in terms of developing the culture of the school,” he told the students. “The professions, alumni, and donors in the community are all vested in your educational experience and success.”
Dean Sommer also thanked the donors for their ongoing contributions: “All of the donors here today, and others who could not be here, have shown a commitment to keeping our programs financially accessible to those who meet our very high criteria of academic standing and performance.”
The Daniels Faculty would like to congratulate those who received awards this year — and express its sincere thanks to those who continue to support students year after year.
