24.04.15 - Budding urban designers visit the Daniels Faculty as part of U of T's "Bring Our Children to Work Day"

On Thursday, April 23rd, children of staff and faculty from the University of Toronto were invited to U of T's Bring Our Children to Work Day. Activities included an official welcome in the morning, followed by a presentation by a guest speaker, a departmental tour, a lunch, and an afternoon of job shadowing.

"U of T Bring Our Children to Work Day provides an opportunity for children to gain an understanding of what that work is and why it is so important to the University," says Angela Hildyard, Vice-President of Human Resources & Equity. "These enthusiastic and inquisitive young folks can also experience the depth and breadth of our programs and the diversity of our community, and hopefully be encouraged to come here to study one day!"

The events scheduled at the Daniels Faculty included a short presentation by Associate Professor Laura Miller, followed by a workshop to build a city neighbourhood. Each participant constructed an individual city block using wood scraps, colored paper, and pastels. The blocks were assembled to create an area within a city.
