David Bowick
David began his engineering career at Blackwell Engineering after graduating from McGill University in 1990. In four years at Blackwell Engineering he worked on a wide variety of projects including residential, recreational, educational and special projects. As a project engineer his responsibilities included conceptual and final design, as well as field review.
In 1994, David joined the Yolles Partnership Inc. where he filled the role of project engineer and led teams on many notable projects. His designs for the Niagara Parks Butterfly Conservatory and the atrium space for the Baycrest Jewish Home for the Aged earned Yolles the CISC Ontario Steel Design award in 1997 and 2000.
In July of 1997 David returned to Blackwell Engineering Limited as a partner. Since that time he has twice earned the WoodWORKS! Building the Future Engineer Award. Numerous projects under his direction have been recipients of design awards, both structural and architectural.
David is an Assistant Adjunct Professor in the Masters in Architecture Program at the University of Toronto, teaching the structures portion of the curriculum. He has also been a frequent guest lecturer in the Faculty of Architecture at the University of Waterloo
David is a Licensed Professional Engineer in the Provinces of Ontario, British Columbia, New Brunswick and Alberta. He is qualified under Ontario’s Bill 124 and is a member of the Canadian Standards Association Technical Committee on CAN/CSA-O86, Engineering Design in Wood.
