With a broad range of Smart Phone hardware available, a specific configuration guide is not possible for every particular phone.  Alternatively, we do offer the general specification requirements for connecting your Smart Phone to the Daniels WiFi (wireless) network.  For Daniels Faculty members with email accounts and Smart Phones we also have general specifacation requirements for connection to our email server.

Unfortuately WiFi and email connections to Daniels servers may not be configurable for you particular SmartPhone and we provide this information as a guide only.  The Faculty does support the configuration of Apple iPhones for Wireless connections, and for Daniels Faculty members you can connect your iPhone to our email server. A data plan is recommended unless you will only be using your iPhone on WiFi.

Smart Phone requirements for WiFi connection to ALDair (which is the recommended method for the greatest security):

Security: WPA2 or WPA2-Enterprise capable (enable either of these)
Network Authentication: Protected EAP (PEAP)
Encryption Type: AES
Certificate Server: Cerificate validation turned off (if cerificate validation cannot be turned off and your phone says the certificate is "invalid" you may have the option of continuing anyway which will allow access)

Settings:
Network Name: ALDair
Domain: ALD
HTTPS Proxy: None (off)

Your Daniels computer account name and password : (sometimes called Client ID, or login name)
IP address: set to DHCP

If you see a setting "Outer Identity" or similar - it should be in format as "ALD\login", where login is your Daniels login ID.

If you see a setting "Anonimize" connection or similar - check it off - our system does not support anonymous connections.

Smart Phone requirements for connection to our email server:

Being a Daniels Faculty member with a Faculty provided email account
Account type: Microsoft Exchange Server
SSL capable: yes (enabled)

Settings:

Server: webmail.daniels.utoronto.ca
Domain: ALD
Your Daniels computer account name and password : (sometimes called Client ID, or login name)
