Transfer Credits

The Daniels Faculty will assess all credits obtained at a post-secondary institution for potential transfer credit. Acceptance of transfer credits by the University of Toronto shall be based on the recognition that, while learning experiences may differ in a variety of ways, their substance may be virtually equivalent in terms of their content and rigour.

The information below is for on-admission transfer credits. Current Daniels Faculty students who wish to take courses at other academic institutions (other than through the Centre for International Experience on exchange or through the Summer Abroad Program) must request a Letter of Permission.

All transfer students into the Daniels Faculty should review the following information carefully:

Internal University of Toronto Transfer Students

Transfer Students from the Faculty of Arts & Science

Transfer students from the Faculty of Arts & Science (St. George) are eligible to have up to 10.0 Full Course Equivalents (FCE) retained, the maximum number of completed credits allowed upon admission. All grades obtained for these retained credits will be included in the Daniels Faculty academic record with the retained credits, and Daniels Faculty rules and regulations will apply. All 300+ level courses completed in the Faculty of Arts & Science may apply to the Daniels Faculty degree requirement of at least 6.0 FCE at the 300+ level. A maximum of 6.0 FCE at the 100-level may be used for degree credit in the Daniels Faculty.

Any courses declared credit/no credit (CR/NCR) or any course in from which a student has Late Withdrawn (LWD) in the Faculty of Arts & Science will count toward the maximum allowable CR/NCR and LWD options in the Daniels Faculty.

Transfer students from the Faculty of Arts & Science may retain their Faculty of Arts & Science program(s) of study but must complete at least one Daniels subject POSt in Architecture (for the Honours Bachelor of Arts in Architectural Studies) or Visual Studies (for the Honours Bachelor of Arts in Visual Studies). Detailed information about appropriate combinations of subject POSts for each of these degree programs is found on our subject POSt page.

Students who have completed more than 10.0 FCE in the Faculty of Arts & Science at the time of application will not be considered for admission. For more detailed information on transfer students from the Faculty of Arts & Science, please visit our undergraduate admissions page.

Transfer Students from UTM and UTSC

Transfer students from the University of Toronto Mississauga (UTM) and the University of Toronto Scarborough (UTSC) are eligible for up to 10.0 Full Course Equivalents (FCE) in transfer credits, the maximum number of credits allowed upon admission. Any credits of the 10.0 FCE that were completed in the Faculty of Arts & Science (St. George) will be retained; all grades obtained for these retained credits will be included in the Daniels Faculty academic record with the retained credits, and Daniels Faculty rules and regulations will apply. All 300+ level retained credits may apply to the Daniels Faculty degree requirement of at least 6.0 FCE at the 300+ level; a maximum of 1.0 FCE in transfer credits at the 300+ level may be used to meet degree requirements. A maximum of 6.0 FCE at the 100-level may be used for degree credit in the Daniels Faculty.

Transfer students from UTM and UTSC may not retain their UTM or UTSC programs of study (subject POSts) upon admission to the Daniels Faculty. Only Daniels and Faculty of Arts & Science subject POSts may be used to complete the Daniels Faculty degree requirements; Daniels students must complete at least one Daniels subject POSt in Architecture (for the Honours Bachelor of Arts in Architectural Studies) or Visual Studies (for the Honours Bachelor of Arts in Visual Studies). Detailed information about appropriate combinations of subject POSts for each of these degree programs is found on our subject POSt page.
