Ramy Bakir

Ramy Bakir is an award-winning, internationally-trained architect and educator with over 20 years of experience in design practice and pedagogy. As an Assistant Professor with B.Sc., M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in Architecture, he has taught and coordinated over 20 courses at the American University in Cairo and the Arab Academy for Science & Technology.

Ramy has supervised graduate research, conducted multiple postdoc studies, and published several articles and research papers focusing on the situated design process within architectural practice and pedagogy while exploring the impact of emerging technologies on both.

Over the course of his career, Ramy has led the design, management, and construction of over 100 design projects across 8 countries around the globe. He is currently Senior Team Lead (Design + Research) and Project Manager at Syllable Inc., Toronto, overseeing projects across Canada. He is also an active member of the Toronto Society of Architects and co-leads the Youth Outreach Initiative.
