Simon Y. Kim, AIA, OAA, is an architect, educator, and researcher. He is associate professor at the Weitzman School of Design at the University of Pennsylvania, co-director and founder of Immersive Kinematics, and founding principal of Ibañez Kim. He is a recipient of numerous grants and funding from the National Science Foundation (NSF), Pew Center for Arts and Heritage, the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC), and the Canadian Heritage Foundation. Simon's work is also supported by residencies and fellowships at Autodesk, RAIR Philadelphia, MIT Design Lab, and the Seoul Biennale.
Simon has published and presented his work globally at the IEEE, AI-HRI, ACADIA, eCAADe, ACSA, SmartGeometry, and for clients such as the ICA, the Philadelphia Museum of Art, MIT Museum, Harvard University Graduate School of Design, the Smithsonian, MoMA, and the Slought Foundation. He holds graduate degrees from the Architectural Association in London, and MIT.
