Kate Nelischer

Assistant Dean, Academic and Outreach Programs

Kate is responsible for coordinating the academic programming and outreach activities at the Daniels Faculty. She manages academic planning, policy, and curriculum assessment, assisting the Daniels programs in continuing to achieve their goals and meet the academic needs of their students. This includes managing the accreditation reviews of the Faculty’s professional programs and the development of new academic programs. Kate also manages Faculty governance at Daniels, guiding policies and projects through University governance processes. One of Kate’s key areas of focus is fostering connections between Daniels and the broader community to enable experiential learning opportunities for students.

Kate brings to her position expertise in landscape architecture, community engagement, planning, and communications. Prior to joining Daniels, Kate was a Senior Public Consultation Coordinator for the City of Toronto, where she worked to engage the public in city-building initiatives. She held other positions in municipal government, and worked in the private sector as a Design Communications Specialist for The Planning Partnership. Kate is a graduate of the University of Guelph’s Bachelor of Landscape Architecture Program, holds a master’s degree in Design Writing Criticism from the University of the Arts, London, and is currently completing her PhD in Planning at the University of Toronto. Kate also serves on the National Board of Directors for YWCA Canada.
