ROB|ARCH 2024

Daniels Building, 1 Spadina Crescent

ROB|ARCH 2024 will see eight hands-on robotics workshops run over three days (May 21-23) in the lead-up to two days (May 24-25) packed full of paper presentations, keynotes, networking and awards. The event is a collaboration between the Daniels Faculty and TMU’s Design + Technology Lab, with activities running simultaneously at both sites.

Led by the Faculty’s Maria YabloninaPaul Howard Harrison, Nicholas Hoban, Zachary Mollica and Brady Peters, ROB|ARCH 2024 will gather some of the world’s top researchers to examine key currents in robotic art and architecture—including cable robotics, 3D printing, human-machine collaboration and augmented making.

The conference’s conceptual framework, “Beyond Optimization,” offers a rich prompt to both workshop hosts, presenters and attendees, highlighting the vital question: How can we reconcile the limitations of the “computable” with the incomprehensible entropy of the real world?

Among the keynote speakers scheduled to present are artist Sougwen Chung, Brian Ringley of Boston Dynamics and Yusuke Obuchi from the University of Tokyo. The Association for Robots in Architecture will also be hosting a special session at TMU on May 23.

Limited spaces remain for both the conference and workshops—register now!
