Daniels Faculty Winter 2022 Update

Dear Daniels Community,

Following the University’s announcement earlier today, we will be returning to in-person teaching on Monday, February 7.

The University’s vaccine requirement remains in place, and proof of full vaccination must be uploaded to UCheck. The University will continue to require the use of UCheck health screening by all members of the University community who are participating in on-campus activities. Currently, those with Health Canada approved vaccines do not need to upload proof of their booster dose, but we encourage all students, staff, and faculty to obtain their additional vaccine doses as soon as they are eligible to do so.

As a reminder, all classrooms in Daniels, Borden, and Earth Sciences buildings have been tested and meet the highest criteria for air quality safety, i.e., a minimum of six air exchanges per hour, or the same standard used in healthcare settings such as patient examination rooms. The province has indicated that the return to the classroom will not have any physical distancing requirements attached to it, but masking will be required in all shared spaces in our buildings, including studios, labs, and classrooms.

Any specific course transitions will be communicated via individual program directors and instructors, while all changes in course delivery are noted in the most recent undergraduate and graduate timetables. Please see the attached COVID-19 In-Class Instruction Guidelines for a reminder of best practices as we return to the classroom.

As always, we are extremely grateful for the diligence and adaptability of our students, faculty, and staff. We are aware that many have been feeling the burden of managing work, study, and life during this sustained period of uncertainty. At the same time, we owe the success of our return to campus to the dedication and resilience of our wonderful Daniels community and look forward to seeing each other in person again this winter term.
