Professor Maha Salman, ARC132 (Contemporary Architecture) instructor, invites all al&d students, faculty and staff to her upcoming lecture "Architects from the Arab World, Mohammed Saleh Makiya, Rifat Chadirji, Rasem Badran: Modernity and Regionalism."
The lecture will investigate the work and ideas of three distinguished Arab architects who tried to merge the rich architectural heritage of their countries along with the new dimensions of modern technology and contemporary architecture. Moreover, the lecture will look into the recent architectural trends in the Arab World through demonstrating several up-to-date projects in the Gulf Region, especially in Dubai.
Dr. Maha Salman is an architect and a university academic who has been teaching at several universities in different countries. She received a B.Sc. and M.Sc from the University of Baghdad-Iraq, and finished her PhD in "Sustainability & Architecture" from the University of Huddersfield-UK.
In addition to her work as an academic, Dr. Salman worked as an architect and interior designer for different projects in Iraq, Libya & UAE. She has accomplished many researches and studies in the aspects of sustainability, environmental design, and traditional architecture in the Arab World.
