Gwendolyn Wright is Professor of Architecture, Planning, and Preservation, Columbia University. A fellow of the Society of American Historians, is the author of The Politics of Design in French Colonial Urbanism (University of Chicago Press, 1991), Building the Dream: A Social History of Housing in America (Pantheon Books, 1981),and Moralism and the Model Home: Domestic Architecture and Cultural Conflict in Chicago, 1873-1913 (University of Chicago Press, 1980). She is the editor of two books and has received fellowships from, among others, the Guggenheim Foundation, the Ford Foundation, and the Getty Center.
