Despite being a heavily stigmatized area that faces challenges of poor transit service, poverty, violence, and racism, Southeast Scarborough is home to an incredible diversity of exciting community building efforts.
Mayor David Miller will kick off this special event, which will showcase a series of unusual and exciting projects and explore what makes all this vitality possible.
Join special guests from across the community, local performers, TTC chair Adam Giambrone, and city councillor Paul Ainslie.
Hear about a local basketball team's guerilla gardening projects, the youth arts group's murals and giant puppets, the Aboriginal community's annual Pow Wow, or the activism for better transit service.
Experience a taste of the community market and be entertained as you learn about the leadership of diverse residents, the dedication of community workers, and the public investment that makes this magic possible.
