Hart House Review Celebrates 2009 Launch

The Hart House Review is an annual literary and arts publication for students and alumni at the University of Toronto. Apart from submissions, the Review features celebrated Canadian writers and artists, and also showcases the upcoming talents of the winners of the Hart House literary, poetry, and photography contests. 

 

The annual launch for this year's issue will be held on Tuesday, April 14, 2009 at 7:30 PM. The evening will include readings from this year's profiled contributors, including forthcoming and unpublished poetry by authors Priscila Uppal and Ronna Bloom. The launch will also showcase new and retrospective pieces by Canadian photographer, Davida Nemeroff, including her latest series of multidisciplinary works entitled Dream Baby Dream. Complimentary hors d’oeuvres will be served, a cash bar will be available and free issues of the Hart House Review will be distributed to UofT students in attendance.

Featured Artist: Davida Nemeroff - Currently finishing her MFA in Visual Arts at Columbia University, Davida Nemeroff has done a variety of photography editorial work for Canadian magazines. She is represented by Katharine Mulherin Contemporary Art Projects in Toronto. 

 

Featured Writer: Priscila Uppal - A Toronto-based poet and fiction writer, Priscila has published five collections of poetry with Exile Editions, and two critically-acclaimed novels, including To Whom It May Concern (2009), published with Doubleday Canada. For the Review, she will be reading excerpts printed from her upcoming poetry collection, Traumatology.

 

Featured Writer: Ronna Bloom - As a Toronto-based poet, Ronna’s most recent collection of poetry, Public Works, was short listed for the Pat Lowther award in 2004. She is currently the Poet in Community at the University of Toronto, and Ronna's fourth book, Permiso, (Pedlar Press) is out Spring 2009.
