Thursday, June 18, 9:30am-12:30pm: Public Forum: Precarious Work / Decent Work: Research Findings and Tools for Action The purpose of this forum is to present research findings and the public outreach materials developed by the project Immigrants and Precarious Employment. In 2005, the research team interviewed 300 Latin American and Caribbean immigrant workers in the GTA to examine: How recent immigrants are affected by the wider trend towards precarious employment? What strategies do they implement on the job and as families to address employment challenges? The forum is aimed at an audience of community agency staff in front-line work, research and policy analysis, academics and organizations working on issues of worker rights and decent work such as unions and NGOs.
