"On Igloos and Earth Houses: Visioning Housing in the North" with Bill Semple

This event is free and open to the public, and is part of the Daniels Faculty's participation in the Arctic Adaptations: NU Housing competition.

Bill Semple is an architect, builder, researcher and consultant with a background in design, community facilitation, building science, construction and environmental planning. For over ten years, Semple worked as a Senior Researcher responsible for northern housing research with the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC). Concentrating on the Canadian far north, Semple designed and carried out projects that focused on the development of sustainable northern and communities. Developing a design process for working in remote indigenous northern communities, Bill worked with Inuit, First Nations, and northern housing agencies developing culturally appropriate, super energy efficient northern housing prototypes in a number of arctic and sub-arctic communities.
