Alec Hay: "The Resilience Challenge - Are Your Designs Ready?"

-

Room 103, 230 College Street

This presentation will focus on hazards that will affect buildings and infrastructure, and provide designers with a framework to create better plans that respond to hazards while assisting their clients in deciding whether it is more important to preserve the capital investment or maintain operational capacity. Discover why designing resilient infrastructure to enable operational resilience is becoming increasingly critical and how to better steer towards effective design decisions.

Alec Hay is the Resilience and Security Planning Leader at DIALOG Toronto, and Director of the University of Toronto Centre for Resilience of Critical Infrastructure. Alec has extensive experience working with clients to help them better understand future shocks and stresses that could affect their operations––such as extreme weather events––and develop resilience and security plans that will inform both their capital and operations planning. Previously, Alec was the Senior British Liaison Officer to the Canadian Army and he has directed and/or managed major projects across Canada, the Arctic, British South Atlantic Islands, Africa, Europe, the Middle East and Asia.
