Mari Carmen Ramirez has a history of curatorial practices and arts administration. She was the director of the Museum of Antropología, Historia y Arte from the University of Puerto Rico and Chief Editor for the 20th-Century Latin American and Latino Art press book series. In 2005, Ramírez was the recipient of the Curatorial Excellence Award granted by the Center for Curatorial Studies at Bard College and, in the same year, TIME magazine named her one of “The 25 Most Influential Hispanics in America.” Ramirez is the current Director at the International Center for the Arts of the Americas in Houston, Texas.
