The work of a landscape architect comprises a diverse spectrum of actions and mandates. Designing and building projects is only the tip of the iceberg. Today’s landscape architect is at the forefront of understanding, defining and transforming the world around us.

This presentation will paint a portrait of the profession’s wide-reaching potentials through 13 of NIPPAYSAGE’s current projects.

Since its inception in 2001 by 5 Université de Montréal graduates (Mathieu Casavant, France Cormier, Josée Labelle, Michel Langevin, and Mélanie Mignault), NIPPAYSAGE has been a leader of a new wave of landscape architects. The team currently consists of 13 collaborators.

The meaning behind the name NIPPAYSAGE refers to the inherent identity of all project sites. The firm’s design process is defined as a collective approach valued by multiple viewpoints. This openness leads to sound choices and creates meaningful environments. Eager to provide a renewed vision of the profession, NIP’s works combine a powerful conceptual basis, an approach sensitive to functionality and sustainability issues.

Daniels Sessions aims to explore new and alternative viewpoints on architectural practice and research. The series features speakers who present unconventional perspectives and work from both inside and outside of the discipline. Daniels Sessions aims to provoke thought and generate discussion in a less formal setting. Following the lecture, audience members are invited to continue the conversation with the speaker in the Graduate Student Lounge, located in the lower level of 230 College Street.
