"Contexts" with Wolfgang Lorch, Wandel Lorch Architekten, Frankfurt
-
Room 103, 230 College Street
This lecture is proudly sponsored by bulthaup Toronto
“Contexts” was chosen as a programmatic title describing both the parameters and the essence of Wandel Lorch Architekten architecture forming the “basso continuo”. The lecture won’t be only a theoretical approach to this theme, it will be a presentation of their work with the help of realised projects.
Wolfgang Lorch (b. 1960) studied at Darmstadt Technical University and ETSA Barcelona. In 1993 he founded the office “Wandel Lorch Architekten” based in Saarbrücken and Frankfurt. Between 2001 and 2003 he was Chair and taught at “Staatsbauschule Stuttgart”. Since 2003 he is the Chair of Experimental Design at Darmstadt Technical University. The focus of his work is sacral buildings as well as scenographic and memorial architecture. For his work he has received numerous architecture awards and his view has not only influenced the specialist journals but also the popular discussion of architecture.
The Daniels Faculty is proud to host a popular public lecture series featuring leading professionals and academics in the fields of architecture, landscape architecture, urban design, and visual studies.
All events are free and open to the public (unless otherwise stated). Tickets are not required for events at 230 College Street and seating is provided on a first come, first served basis. As many of our speakers attract capacity crowds, we recommend that you arrive early to avoid disappointment.
No latecomers will be admitted into the theatre once the lecture has started, however an overflow room with a live video-feed will be set up in Room 106 for those unable to obtain a seat in the main lecture hall. We also post videos of most evening lectures on our YouTube channel. If you have any questions about our events, please don’t hesitate to contact our Communications and Events Coordinator Pamela Walls at pamela.walls@daniels.utoronto.ca or 416-978-2253.
