Daniels Workshop for New Graduate Students

-

Daniels Workshop is a free, two-week introductory class open to all incoming MARC, MLA, and MUD graduate students, but geared towards students with limited knowledge in architecture, landscape architecture, and urban design.

The 2024 Daniels Workshop will take place July 31-August 16. The schedule will be published this summer. Instructor: Adrian Phiffer

The class takes the form of a seminar with the scope to introduce students to:

  • the studio-format philosophy, pedagogy, and community;
  • the essential terminology, with associated concepts, in the design practice;
  • the necessary skills in object observation and subject representation;
  • the roles and work principles of a graduate student at Daniels Faculty of Architecture, Landscape, and Design.

The general tone of the class is one based on co-activities and intensive discussions. In-class sessions are complemented by site visits to public spaces, buildings, and design offices.
