3D Printers

The Digital Fabrication Lab is equipped with two Stratasys F120 3D printers, a 3D Systems Projet 660pro printer, a 3D Systems Projet 650pro printer, and a 3D Systems Projet 360 printer.

Stratasys F120 3D printer

The Stratasys F120 extrudes ABS plastic, a production-grade thermoplastic that gives printed models the ability to perform just like production parts in real-world applications. Two materials — one for models, one for support — are heated in an extrusion head and deposited in thin layers on a modeling base. The model is precisely built layer upon layer. When the model is complete, the support material is removed, leaving an accurate, durable, functional 3D model.

Material cost for the Stratasys F120 is charged at $6 per cubic inch.

 

3D Systems Projet 650pro / 660pro 3D printer

The 3D Systems Projet 650pro / 660pro uses a composite starch material to produce physical monochromatic or color models quickly, easily, and inexpensively from computer-aided design (CAD) and other digital data. Students are able to 3D print concept models, functional prototypes, and presentation models, which are key tools in evaluating and refining design ideas.

Material cost for the Projet 650pro / 660pro is charged at $6 per cubic inch.

The 3D Systems Projet 360 uses a composite starch material to produce physical monochromatic models quickly, easily, and inexpensively from computer-aided design (CAD) and other digital data. Students are able to 3D print concept models, functional prototypes, and presentation models, which are key tools in evaluating and refining design ideas.
