3D Printers

The Digital Fabrication Lab is equipped with a Dimension 1200es (Fused Deposition Modeling) 3D printer,  3D Systems Projet 660, 3D Systems Projet 360.

Dimension 1200es

The Dimension 1200es uses ABSplus, a production-grade thermoplastic that gives printed models the ability to perform just like production parts in real-world applications. Two materials — one for models, one for support — are heated in an extrusion head and deposited in thin layers on a modeling base. The model is precisely built layer upon layer. When the model is complete, the support material is removed leaving an accurate, durable functional 3D model.

Material cost for the Dimension 1200es is charged at $7.00 / cubic inch

3D Systems Projet 660pro

The 3D Systems Projet 660pro uses a composite starch material to produce physical monochromatic or color models quickly, easily and inexpensively from computer-aided design (CAD) and other digital data. With the Projet 660, students are able to 3D print concept models, functional prototypes and presentation models which are key tools in evaluating and refining designs ideas.

Material cost for the Projet 660pro is charged at $5.00 / cubic inch
