17.03.14 - Aziza Chaouni participates in symposium organized by the Aga Khan Program at Harvard GSD

Assistant Professor Aziza Chaouni was a featured presenter at a symposium that explored the public debates around the protection of the historic centers of cities in the Muslim world, many of which are now undergoing change. Titled, "The Space Between Development and Conservation," the symposium, which took place March 7th, was organized by the Aga Khan Program at Harvard’s Graduate School of Design.

Chaouni’s presentation was part of the panel “Geographies (Old and New),” which looked at deserts, territories, and parks and the role that the historical landscape could play in mediating modern development.

Chaouni is a graduate of the Harvard School of Design, and the founder of Aziza Chaouni Projects (ACP), “a 100% woman-owned multidisciplinary design firm with offices located in Fez, Morocco, and Toronto.” ACP’s projects range in scale from furniture design to city planning. The firm has undertaken projects in in Canada, the United States, Jordan, and Morocco, and has won numerous awards for its work.
