Charles Stankievech, director of the Daniels Visual Studies program, was awarded Best Solo Exhbition (under $20,000) at the 38th annual Ontario Art Association of Galleries awards ceremony for his exhibition Monument as Ruin. This exhibition was the last of a trilogy of exhibitions that explored 20th-century military-outpost technologies such as sonic intelligence-gathering devices and casement technologies.

At last year's ceremony, Stankievech was awarded best curatorial award and best curatorial essay.

Currently, Stankievech is running a solo exhibition exhibition The Soniferous Æther of the Land Beyond the Land Beyond, curated by Scott McLeod, at the Prefix Institute of Contemporary Art. To celebrate his work, Prefix ICA will be launching the thirty-second issue of Prefix Photo magazine at the closing reception for Stankievech's exhbition.

The subject of Prefix Photo 32 is "occupying forces" and features work by Stankievech as well as many other artists, critics and scholars.
