10.08.12 - Students Kevin Murray and Gladys Cheung shortlisted for the Morph My City 2040 Prize

Congratulations to Daniels Faculty students Kevin Murray (MArch 2) and Gladys Cheung (MArch 4), who are part of a multi-disciplinary team shortlisted for the Morph My City 2040 Prize!

Sponsored by IBM, the Morph My City Challenge invited Architects, Engineers, City Planners, students and innovators worldwide to participate in a two-part innovation competition aiming to
encourage and reward radical new approaches to sustainable urban planning, with the city of Rosemont, Regina, SA as its experimental ground.

The team’s entry “Rhizome City 2040,” advised under the guidance of Prof. David Lieberman, was shortlisted from 58 entries and will be among 3 finalists presenting at the National Infrastructure Summit in Regina in September.

“Rhizome City 2040” identifies and realigns key resources and infrastructure in the suburban neighborhood of Rosemont and greater Regina region. Through projects phased over 30 years, the team proposes a targeted but adaptive approach to coordinating landscapes, energy, waste, transportation and culture networks.
