17.02.12 - Daniels students Omar Aljebouri and Michael CC Lin win The Artist Project's UNTAPPED Emerging Artists Competition
Daniels students Omar Aljebouri (MArch IV) and Michael CC Lin (MArch 2011) have won The Artist Project’s UNTAPPED Emerging Artists Competition.
The Artist Project is dedicated to supporting the development of students, new graduates, and self-taught artists. UNTAPPED Emerging Artists is a juried competition that awards emerging artists from all mediums an opportunity to exhibit at a professional-level art fair for free. This year, selected from hundreds of applications, 16 of the best up-and-coming artists have been invited to showcase and sell their cutting-edge work. This will be their opportunity to participate in a professional-level art fair and enjoy all the perks of exhibiting artists.
Artists from a variety of geographic and creative
backgrounds will converge and connect with patrons looking to get a
glimpse of tomorrow’s Art Stars. From seasoned collectors and first time
art buyers, to gallerists and interior designers, visitors will find
this art fair a rare opportunity to meet and purchase work directly from
Canadian and International artists.
Aljebouri’s and Lin’s installation, entitled Cabinet of Curiosities: Toronto Expedition 001, is a collection that demonstrates on-going investigations and playful dissections of places that are at once familiar yet foreign. These objects reflect physical, digital, and imaginary journeys weaving through history, myth, and everyday life.
