21.01.11 - Aziza Chaouni / Liat Margolis exhibit Out of Water at California College of the Arts Feb 4-11
The exhibition Out of Water by Professors Liat Margolis & Aziza Chaouni will be on view at the California College of the Arts Water Works and Out of Water Exhibitions from February 4 - 11, 2011.
Out of Water is part of the California College of the Arts initiative entitled Water Works. Water Works showcases works of architecture, art, design, and writing produced by students in CCA's four fall 2010 Water Works courses. In Water Works, four studio instructors from across the college thematized issues around water and invited an "embedded scientist" to come into the studio to provide science instruction. The program aimed to explore ways to meaningfully integrate science into art and design education.
The Out of Water exhibition was first launched in the Larry Wayne Richards Gallery at the Daniels Faculty in April 2009, followed by exhibitions at the Architectural League in NY during the summer of 2009, Ohio State University's Knowlton School of Architecture in the Fall of 2009, and Louisiana State University and Arid Lands Institute in Woodbury University in the Fall of 2010.
Out of Water is an ongoing research which includes three main components: a geographical investigation of water scarcity in arid climates on a global and regional scales; the development of a compendium of water integrated technologies; as well as speculative projects for the future of dry cities.
