22.01.10 - Daniels team participates in 2011 Xi’an International Horticultural Exposition

Drew Adams (MArch3), James Dixon (MArch 4) and Fadi Masoud (MLA3), in a team led by Professor Rodolphe el-Khoury (Daniels; Khoury Levit Fong), were selected along with six other international teams to design and implement a 1600 square meters garden in the 2011 Xi'an International Horticultural Exposition. The team will be joining a weeklong on-site workshop to refine their design with the assistance of other participants and local expert and present their project to Xi’an government officials on January 29th 2010.

The garden is designed in coordination with adjacent lots to achieve commonly held environmental goals, with particular attention given to storm-water retention and remediation. it is also fine-tuned and largely dedicated to the controlled delivery and orchestration of scents, thus reversing the usual aesthetic hierarchy in a multi-sensory experience that places smell at the top.
