19.11.10 - Alissa and Pete North (North Design Office) finalists for the John Street Square Ideas Competition

Alissa and Pete North (North Design Office) have been selected as finalists for the John Street Square Ideas Competition, with their “Entertain Me” submission. North Design Office’s submission received assistance from MArch student Stacie Drost and recent MLA graduate Alessandro Colavecchio.

Designers, urban planners, architects, artists, students, residents, businesses, and all interested members of the public were invited to submit designs for the John Street Ideas Competition. Named ‘John Street Square’ for the purpose of the competition, the underutilized space is situated in an area undergoing an extraordinary transformation and required a redesign to better serve and leverage its strategic location. The Toronto Entertainment District Business Improvement Area recognizes the opportunity to rethink John Street Square and sought creative ideas to complement and inspire the future transformation of John Street.

An online public vote is currently underway to select the winner, and the submissions, including North Design Office’s “Entertain Me” Finalist #4 submission, can be viewed at: http://www.torontoed.com/johnst/entry/4
