Bureau E.A.S.T.'s exhibition Salon De B.E.A.S.T opened last Friday in Miami at FIU.The exhibition was part of an Africa and African Studies Program Symposium and was hosted by Assistant Professor Aziza Chaouni and her partner at Bureau E.A.S.T., Takako Tajima.
Salon de B.E.A.S.T. is Bureau E.A.S.T.’s interpretation of the Moroccan Salon. Utilizing standard wood shipping pallets as the basis for seating and tables, Bureau E.A.S.T. in collaboration with the Paul L. Cejas School of Architecture has created a DIY Moroccan Salon to accommodate the many needs of the diverse FIU community.
Based on how the seating and tables are arranged, Salon de B.E.A.S.T has the capacity to accommodate a wide range of activities.
The project team includes: Carolyn Matsumoto, Jessica Wang, Takako Tajima, and Aziza Chaouni. David Rifkind and FIU volunteer students collaborated on fabrication.
