Professor Liat Margolis is one of nine contributors to the new book Material Design - Informing Architecture by Materiality by Thomas Schröpfer (Birkhäuser 2010). The book discusses innovative uses of materials in design as they relate to surfaces and layers, joints and junctions, weaving and texturing, nanoscale transformations, responsiveness, and the integration of ephemeral factors like wind and light. Margolis's chapter "Encoding – Digital & Analogue Taxonavigation" describes the context and structure of contemporary material collections.
