25.09.09 - David Lieberman Participating in Art Metropole’s Titles V exhibition

09/26/2009 – 11/07/2009

Titles V, the fifth instalment of the Titles series of exhibitions, invites artists, architects, and designers to produce bookworks or related artworks for display among Art Metropole’s existing stock of artist’s books, multiples, audio, video, and ephemera. Titles V is curated by Yam Lau, Tania Ursomarzo, and Sunny Kerr and looks to set into motion itinerant exhibition structures and manoeuvres.

SOUNDINGS, a poem of music and architecture is the text of a piece performed 07 November 2008 in dialogue with Lori Freedman on bass clarinet in the sanctuary of Le Couvent de la Tourette, le Corbusier’s extraordinary work for the Dominican Friars. It is a projective meditation inspired by Iannis Xenakis as architect and composer, searching to comprehend the performity of space.

Recent Daniels graduate Fiona Lim Tung will also be participating in Titles V, showing a piece originally conceived for the course ARC 1034: Architecture, Philosophy, Art. This work uses parallel acts of destruction and reconstruction to act as visual commentary to issues put forth in the original book.
