16.07.25 - Nunavut project by Lateral Office, co-led by Professor Mason White, receives 2025 AZ Award
The Inuusirvik Community Wellness Hub—an award-winning building designed by the practice Lateral Office, co-lead by Professor Mason White with Lola Sheppard, and Daniels alumnus Kearon Roy Taylor on the project team—has received a 2025 AZ Award of merit, for buildings under 1,000SqM.
Representing a careful – yet colourful – take on Northern Architecture the Wellness Hub brings together many services in Nunavut’s capital, such as counselling and daycare facilities, a wellness research centre, a research library, food preparation and gathering spaces.
Professor White has long focused his architectural research on the North—most recently recognized through numerous awards, such as: AZ Award 2025, 2024, Canadian Architect Award of Merit 2023, and the Holcim Foundation for Sustainable Construction, Silver Award 2021.
