04.04.11 - Aziza Chaouni to participate in workshop | Urbanism in the Middle East
Professor Aziza Chaouni will participate in the workshop Urbanism in the Middle East: A Search for New Paradigms, organized at the Harvard Kennedy School.
Chaouni will present her work dealing with urban heritage and identity in Morocco.
The workshop brings together prominent scholars, experts, and professionals in order to discuss the challenges facing the contemporary urban condition in Middle Eastern cities. We aim to emphasize the role of urbanization in shaping the future of the Middle East and its capacity to deal with the new regional and global order. The workshop has two objectives:
1. Analyzing the policies, measures, and conceptions that shape the current trends of urban development in the region
2. Exploring and conceptualizing new possible design and planning paradigms that can deal with persisting urban challenges and make the best use of existing opportunities
