10.12.12 - The work of Sessional Instructor James Roche featured in Toronto Star article
This past Saturday, the Toronto Star published an article on the massive work that been done to support the revitalization of Toronto's waterfront. It's a project that Daniels sessional instructor James Roche, who taught a landscape architecture course this semester, has been closely involved in as Director of Parks, Design and Construction for Waterfront Toronto. He was photographed for the article at the newly constructed Don River Park.
Writes Rachel Mendleson of the Star:
For the better part of a decade, a small army of workers have been quietly laying the groundwork for the most sweeping transformation of the waterfront since the city’s boggy marshlands became a thriving industrial port a century ago. The $34-billion project aims to set the stage for a new Toronto, where a collection of interconnected, sustainable communities turn the city’s long-neglected back alley into its grand foyer.

“There are people who say, ‘In 10 years, you really haven’t accomplished that much,’” said David Kusturin, chief operating officer of Waterfront Toronto. “But a lot of what we’ve accomplished they don’t see, because it’s underground.”
