Daniels faculty members Adrian Blackwell, John Danahy, Pina Petricone, Meg Graham and Pat Hanson have won 2009 Design Exchange Awards, a national design competition open to professional designers across Canada working in a range of disciplines.

The Daniels Faculty had an impressive showing in the 2009 Design Exchange Awards, a national design competition open to professional designers across Canada working in a range of disciplines.

Professor Adrian Blackwell & Jane Hutton won the Gold award in Landscape Architecture for their project Dymaxion Sleep in the Jardins De Métis International Garden Festival.

Professor John Danahy won the Bronze Award in Urban Design for the Centre for Landscape Research's Lakeview Legacy Project.

Professor Pina Petricone's firm Giannone Petricone Associates with Cadillac Fairview won the Gold award in Urban Design award for their Shops in Don Mills.

Sessional Lecturer Meg Graham’s firm, superkül inc | architect, won two awards – a Gold for 40R_Laneway House and a Silver for SHIFT Cottage, both in the residential category.

Sessional Lecturer Pat Hanson's firm gh3 won three honorable mentions: in Architecture - Residential for House 60; in Landscape Architecture for Trinity College Quadrangle; and in Interior Design - Residential for Russell Hill House.

The awards were presented at a gala dinner at the DX on November 24th, 2009. The winners are displayed in an Exhibition at the DX running from November 25, 2009 – February 21, 2010. The Design Exchange Awards promote Canadian design excellence and recognizes the critical role of design in all types of organizations – national & international. The Awards celebrate the success stories achieved through close partnerships between clients and designers. Projects are recognized for balancing function, aesthetics, and economic success. Award catagories include architecture, interiors, visual communications, environments, fashion and industrial design.
