27.01.14 - Daniels alumni and faculty explore new media in recent issue of Ground magazine

The recent issue of Ground, the official magazine of the Ontario Association of Landscape Architects OALA, explores new media and includes a number of articles featuring Daniels faculty and alumni.

A transcribed roundtable on "The Future Present of New Media," co-monitored by Denise Pinto (MLA 2011) and Victoria Taylor (MLA 2008), features Svetlana Lavrentieva (MLA 2006), Mark Lindquist (MLA 2002), and Assistant Professor Liat Margolis, among others.

Alumnus Martin Hogue (MLA 2010) also wrote an article for the issue on the use of film in site exploration.

And Denise Pinto interviewed engineer, project manager and community organizer, Lori Hoinkes and Daniels Faculty Assistant Professor Rodney Hoinkes, who has worked for the Centre of Landscape Research for more than 20 years, about an app they developed to create dialogue in public space. The first version of the app helped people share and explore information about the Liberty Village neighbourhood. They are now working on a new version that will facilitate sharing data for the Homegrown National Park initiative.
