17.06.13 - Daniels lecture poster featured in Youtube video about folding techniques
The 2012-13 Daniels Faculty lecture poster (pictured above) was featured in the 200th episode of the Fold Factory's "60-second Super-Cool Fold of the Week" on June 5, 2013. The video, hosted by folding enthusiast Trish Witkowski, highlights the poster's use of the Miura-Ori fold, a technique created by Japanese astrophysicist Koryo Miura to simulate large solar panel arrays for space satellites. This fold, as Trish demonstrates, can be opened up in one motion and then repacked by bringing the two ends back together. The poster, designed by Dutch design studio catalogtree and also handfolded in the Netherlands, references architectural design elements while showcasing the Faculty's robust lecture series featuring world renowned architects and designers.
Trish is an award-winning designer with extensive experience in marketing and collateral design, POP, packaging and direct mail. She holds a bachelor of fine arts degree in graphic design and a master of science degree in Graphic Arts Publishing from Rochester Institute of Technology’s School of Printing Management and Sciences (now the School of Print Media). She hosts weekly episodes about various folding techniques on her Youtube channel Fold Factory.
Stay tuned for next year's lecture poster which will continue the series using the Miura-Ori fold.
