24.03.14 - MLA students Megan Esopenko and Matt Perotto win the Canadian Society of Landscape Architects' poster competition
Congratulations to Megan Esopenko and Matt Perotto. The Master of Landscape Architecture students are the winners of the Canadian Society of Landscape Architects’ Poster competition!
The competition is held every year in advance of World Landscape Architecture Month, which is celebrated every April.
“April is the perfect month to share our profession and reach out to our communities, notable for Earth Day (April 22nd) and the birthday of Frederick Law Olmsted (April 27th), founder of the landscape architecture profession in North America,” says the CSLA.
This year, the theme for the competition was “Water: friend or foe?” Climate change and extreme weather events are giving rise to new challenges in urban water management. But, as Esopenko and Perotto’s poster shows, landscape architects are helping address threats, such as flooding, by working with the protective, regenerative, and adaptive qualities of natural and built environments to conserve water and create resiliency.
