Aziza Chaouni will lecture next week at the Society of Architectural Historians Annual Meeting in Pasadena in the panel, Transnational Exchange in African Architectures and Urbanisms chaired by Professor David Rifkind. Her paper will discuss the trans-Mediterranean exchanges in the work of  the late Moroccan architect Elie Azagury, who passed away at age 91 in January of this year. Azagury was a major figure of the Moroccan Modernist movement. He was part of Group Gamma, the CIAM chapter in Morocco, and he took part in some of the major post-independence projects such as the reconstruction of Agadir and the Cabo Negro tourist complex.
