07.11.11 - Professor Mary Louise Lobsinger receives a grant from the Australian Research Council

Professor Mary Louise Lobsinger was one of the successful co-applicants awarded $195,000 from the Australian Research Council for the project “Making Architectural Identity: the Architecture of John Andrews.”

Professor Paul Walker of University of Melbourne led the grant initiative, along with Dr. Philip Goad. The funding will enable Lobsinger to resume research on pedagogy and institutional building in North America, including the Graduate School of Design, which is an Andrews’s building. Initial research was co-published in 2009 with Dr. Paolo Scrivano of Boston University in the article “Experimental Architecture, Progressive Pedagogy: Scarborough College.” Lobsinger’s role in the new initiative is to “further scholarly expertise in the project, and in particular a North American view essential in assessing architectural endeavour spread across Australia, Canada and the United States."
