On September 7, 2011, Daniels faculty member Aziza Chaouni participated in a panel discussion with Yto Barrada, the director of the Tangiers Cinematheque, on the relationship between research processes, urban revitalization, and social and cultural projects. Moderated by by Medine Altiok and Stephanie Tunka, the talk was a production of Urban culture in Morocco and the Architectural Association's Visiting School Tangier program.
 
AA Tangier is part of Mittelmeerland, a research project investigating the future of the Mediterranean Sea as a territory of water, led by Medine Altiok and Stephanie Tunka.
 
Aziza Chaouni is the founder of Bureau E.A.S.T,  a collaborative design practice based in Los Angeles, Toronto, and Fez, Morocco. Professor Chaouni's partner, Takako Tajima, is instructing a workshop for the AA Tangier program and providing a lecture on Bureau E.A.S.T projects.
