17.09.12 - Visiting Professor Burton Hamfelt to give lecture during Dutch Green Building Week in Amsterdam

Organized around the events sponsored by the Dutch Green Building Council, Daniels Visiting Professor Burton Hamfelt will give a lecture entitled, 'The Campus City - on the future of education and the city.'

The lecture examines how globalization has generated an international market for both students and universities, and the effect that this is having on our cities. If cities want to engage in this type of talent migration, high level decisions need to be made in order to accommodate the unique demands of this emerging, innovation based economy. Universities, cities and industry need to collaborate towards forming contemporary campus environments that often do not comply with the traditional campus model. The lecture is part of an ongoing research and design project (Campus without Boundaries) done in collaboration with OeverZaaijer Architectuur en Stedebouw and sponsored by the Dutch Architecture Fund (SFA), Royal Dutch Architecture Union (BNA) and the City of Amsterdam.

Burton Hamfelt will also be speaking at the Daniels Faculty on October 9. This free evening lecture, starts at 6:00 PM and will kick off the Daniels Faculty's 2012-2013 bulthaup Lectures.
