02.08.12 - U of T's new Global Cities Institute featured in Yonge Street magazine
The University of Toronto's Global Cities Institute was recently featured in the online magazine Yonge Street. Professor Patricia McCarney, the new director of GCI, tells writer Hamutal Dotan what inspired the institute and why it made sense to base it in Toronto.
"I work in cities around the world and they always look to Toronto as a successful city," McCarney tells Dotan.
GCI will analyze the massive amount of comparative data on cities around the world collected by the Global Cities Indicators Facility with a goal to improving city management and governance within municipal governments, agencies, and industries.
As Dotan writes, GCI will "[help] us to understand how cities work, and to explore the innovations which might make them work better."
