13.12.12 - Daniels Professors and Alumni featured in FULL CIRCLE Exhibition

Daniels Faculty members An Te Liu, Christos Marcopoulos, and Carol Moukheiber are among the eight artists, architects, and designers featured in the Toronto exhibition FULL CIRCLE. Also included are Daniels alumni Lubo Brezina, Lukasz Kos, Jimenez Lai, and Andrei Zerebecky. FULL CIRCLE will continue at the WORKshop gallery in Yorkville through March 16, 2013.

Organized and curated by Professor Emeritus and former Dean, Larry Wayne Richards, FULL CIRCLE is an amalgam of personal odysseys orbiting a convergent set of themes: location and relocation, polarities of East and West, historical and biographical cycles, recycling, somewhere and nowhere.

Artist and designer An Te Liu is displaying a ten-print work titled Agenda (pictured), along with his Pattern Language wallpaper series. Architect/designers Christos Marcopoulos and Carol Moukheiber are presenting X-Stock, a collection of re-cycled/up-cycled fashion garments and eye wear. Lubo Brezina, a B.Arch. graduate and skilled woodworker, made a cherry bed using traditional Chinese joinery. Theorist and University of Illinois professor Jimenez Lai is showing his Little Monster sculpture which he refers to as an “inhabitable cartoon.” And the Shanghai-based group, Four-O-Nine, Andrei Zerebecky and Lukasz Kos, are presenting their Urban Fabric wool rugs, Pleat lounge chairs, and Eclipse mirror. Also included in FULL CIRCLE is Taiwanese architect/designer Luke Liu Kuo-Chang (Open United Studio, Tainan) with his Dolce Vita installation of residual [burned] everyday objects.

FULL CIRCLE is the fifth show presented by WORKshop, an experimental design centre focusing on research, product design, and exhibitions. WORKshop is located at 80 Bloor Street West, adjacent to the Bay TTC station and is open to the public Tuesday through Saturday, 12 to 6pm (closed December 25 through January 2).
