28.02.13 - David Lieberman consults and collaborates on urban design projects in New York
Associate Professor David Lieberman was invited to the Municipal Art Society of New York City (MASNYC) Annual Meeting and presentation on the planning of East Midtown Manhattan on February, 26 2013. In early January, he advised on the establishment of parametres for an urban design panel and workshop entitled “Charting the Road to Resilience” specific to visioning the city post Superstorm Sandy.
Lieberman also continues to consult on the developing digital platform and community forum www.betaville.net, as well as the newly launched www.gothaminnovationgreenhouse.com. Both projects were started by Carl Skelton, the founding Director of the BxMC Brooklyn Experimental Media Center and the recipient of the 2012 MAS Jane Jacobs Medal for Technology and Innovation. Skelton and Lieberman are now collaborating on an east-west sectional study of Midtown Manhattan from the Hudson Yards to Moynihan Station, Madison Square Garden, Penn Station, Grand Central Terminal and the East River. The study will look at infrastructural strategies and the advancement of new models for the public realm.
