07.07.11 - Global Architecture Program students participate in documentary in Rio de Janeiro

Students participating in this summer's Global Architecture Program took part in a documentary on favela (slum) tourism, during the program's week-long visit to Rio de Janeiro. The documentary Taking Home Rocinha (Rocinha à Vista) is directed by Brazilian filmmaker Felippe Mussel Schultz.

About the film
Around three thousand tourists circulate every month through Rio de Janeiro's largest favela, Rocinha. Taking Home Rocinha is a documentary based on guided tours, filmed by a crew that actively takes part in the encounter between tourists, favela residents and tour guides. It is a search for the representations of Rio de Janeiro's favela around the world, its transformation into a tourist-cinematographic object and its unfolding within the production of contemporary memories.
