20.10.11 - Daniels graduate Ali Fard presents "Infostructures" at the African Perspectives Conference

Recent Daniels graduate, Ali Fard (Master of Architecture, 2011), will be presenting his project "Infostructures" at the African Perspectives Conference 2011 in Casablanca.

Infostructures examines the integration of information technologies within public spaces in Sub-Saharan Africa. Fard has analysed recent trends in Africa's move towards Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) and investigated the role of public spaces in this information network within the context of African cities.

Two major questions guided his work: How can the flow of information, with its immense globalizing force, be localized to address the needs of the local population in African cities? And what role does architecture and other design disciplines have in creating context-specific spaces that facilitate the sharing of information? Fard develops new architectural typologies to address the need for public engagement in the new African information economy.

The conference will take place November 3rd - November 5th and is sponsored by Ecole supérieure d'Architecture de Casablanca (E.A.C).
