08.02.11 - Daniels student participates in "Smart Living" workshop in Berlin
Daniels Architecture student Alejandro Lopez was selected as one of 14 international participants to take part in the "TouchHouse. Smart Living - Communicating Surfaces" workshop held in Berlin, February 3 - 6, 2011.
Sponsored by Busch Jaeger, the workshop aimed to "create an opportunity map for the development of energy-efficient, intelligent building control, and to examine its premises and consequences with regard to architecture, urban space and human behaviour”. This event consisted of a one day symposium involving experts from the fields of architecture, interaction design, engineering and behaviourial science, followed by a three day workshop in which participants collaborated to conceptualize and visualize innovative, palpable approaches to the design of intelligent building systems. Participants were asked to consider how networked, self-regulating systems can be developed in a way that allows for an intuitive handling of basic human behavioral patterns. "If we can create, ubiquitous sensitive interfaces to change the boundaries of space and architecture, which are the fascinating and, at the same time, sustainable opportunities we can imagine?"
Workshop participants included a mix of Architects, Architecture Students, and Product Designers from all over the world.
The workshop was held at the Aedes Network Campus Berlin (ANCB) and was directed by Dietmar Leyk (Berlage Institute), Thomas Auer (Transsolar), Marcel Bilow (Facade Research Group, Delft University of Technology), and Daniel Dendra (AnotherArchitect).
